demo at the museum

I was asked to demonstrate watercolor painting at the California Center for the Arts Museum in conjunction with an exhibit of watercolor paintings currently being shown. I thought I'd just sit in a chair, in the corner of the exhibition and paint in my journal, with people coming by to chat briefly. ----But instead, the museum set up a table and chairs so people could 'watch' my demo. I was nervous at first, but it turned out to be a lovely afternoon! I painted in my journal from 1-4pm and had an interested group watching and asking questions throughout the afternoon. Many stayed for over an hour and a half just to observe and enjoy the company of others. It was really fun, and as usual I encouraged people to sketch in a journal, and showed them how easy it was. I filled 5 pages of my watercolor moleskine, while chatting with the group the whole time!

  2. Such a brave soul you are and the fruit looks good enough to eat. I was at the museum last weekend with the Ricky Tims Quilt Seminar and loved the place and the watercolors.

  3. Well wasn't your audience lucky to watch you. The closest I've gotten to drawing in public is on a napkin at a restaurant.
