Art Unraveled

I'm teaching two workshops at Art Unraveled in August in Phoenix. You can read about Sketching and Watercolor in your Illustrated Journal and Two Art Quilts Two on the Art Unraveled website. As you'll read, all registrations must be postmarked Feb 15. Hope to see you there!
Wondering about this block print? I'm working on something for a project runway type event, using recycled materials, here in town. I'm making a shawl out of organza, and matchbook covers. I'll be using this stamp too. I'll keep you posted.

So, here's that paper on cloth project I was working on. I'm quite pleased with this. And you recognize the drawings from my sketchbook. It's 12x12"

Buddy likes it.

Can you tell that's a recently cleaned studio in the background!
NOTE: Janey did a drawing of Bud from this photo.

Mixed Media with Paper & Cloth 6 week class.

The close up view is a project I'm working on to teach to my 2nd Sunday Art Quilt class. It's paper on cloth and we're creating the project for the Cloth Paper Scissors True Color challenge.
Which ties in to the news that I'll be teaching a 6-week class at the Athenaeum in San Diego (Park Blvd location) called "Mixed Media with Paper & Cloth" starting April 14-May 19, Mondays, 9am-noon. I'll let you know when registration begins.

leafy sea dragon and pot-bellied sea horse

Here's my other sketch from yesterday's visit to the Birch Aquarium in LaJolla. The leafy sea dragon is the absolute coolest, most fascinating animal I've ever seen!! I drew both of these while they swam around the water at the aqaurium, so I really had to watch them carefully. I tell ya, that sea dragon is unbelievable! I can't wait to go back and show my husb. Have any of you ever seen one?

Other news, I was accepted and will be teaching this year at Art Unraveled in August in Phoenix, Arizona. The schedule isn't up yet on the website, but will be soon. I'll be teaching an all day class called "TWO art quilts TWO" on August 4 and an evening session, August 5, called "Sketching and Watercolor in your Illustrated Journal."

Since I'm in the newsy mode, here are two movies I recommend. The Namesake is one everyone will love and The Diving Bell & the Butterfly will take your breath away by showing you the epitome of one man's perseverance and inner strength.

Lastly, my paper and organza quilt entitled "Ralph's Letters" will be on display at The Front Porch Gallery, 2903 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad, CA January 19-March 16, with a reception on Sat. January 19, noon-3.

Spent a couple of days and new years eve with friends at Warner Springs Ranch.

warner springs ranch

I took the self-guided nature walk and came upon this gorgeous manzanita. It was really that red! And, I read in my guide book, the largest 'specimen' in San Diego County.
