If you've been following along, you know I've been working on a series of sketchbook pages with the theme of everyday objects. And you know I started a fabric piece, in the way I work doing one piece at a time.
It's complete! It measures 34 x 15.5" and frankly, I'm quite pleased with it.
(I know you're going to ask, I got the giant safety pins here.)

This is so gorgeous, I love everything about it, the idea, the mixed media, the details, the colors, the stitching. Wow, wow!!
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty. I love all the ephemera and the soft colors. I'm really drawn to the black line lately too, whether it be pen, brush or thread.

I like the way this turned out, love the details, like the tea bag label. Glad to see you have loyal consultants to assist in all you do.

ReplyDeleteOne question: How do you prevent the paper from tearing when you sew it to the cloth? Doesn't the machine stitch cause perforations?

ReplyDeleteThis piece is a total delight!!!! I love every bit of it!! I especailly like how you added texture by stitching around the Coffee stained bits on the ticking- little touches like this make the piece extra specail!!!!!!

ReplyDeletethanks everyone!!! this one was a labor of love. Missy, when you stitch paper you should have a longer stitch or zigzag--neither of which I do! :-) My philosophy, if the paper tears, it tears...
ReplyDeleteNancy, no, I don't plan out the sizes of things. When the time comes to put them together, I move them around, crop some, and quickly make another piece if I have a blank spot on the composition.
