The squirrels got my apples this year but the Honey Crisp variety are in the store. Had to turn on the AC yesterday, near 100 in my neck of SD. Isn't it great!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the light through the Liquid Amber ( aka: sweet gum) leaves. We planted one at our house in England, thinking more of the color and leaf shapes than of the spiky seed balls. Two years after we sold the house, we went back just to see the place, and the tree was gone. The new owners obviously weren't pleased with spiky missiles launched from the lawn-mower!
You are making me so very homesick! I used to make my dad pomegranate jelly from the poms in his backyard in El Cajon. He grew up just a block from Balboa Park's tennis courts.
ReplyDeleteOkay, color me green with envy. I am switching closets today and bringing out the wool, the clouds are hiding the sun, and even the cats are under blankets. I was in San Diego for Christmas in 1974 and couldn't believe the weather, the poinsettas blooming in yards, and the bright blue sky.
