Fabric fun! I bought these gorgeous fabric squares from designer Marcia Derse at the Houston Quilt Festival. And I have a new Babylock Sashiko sewing machine to play with! I'd planned to completely stitch the squares down, but when I completed the top, they reminded me so much of prayer flags, I had to stop there. (You know, The Prayer Flag Project)
The stitches are gorgeous. I'll be playing with the machine a lot more, to see what it can do!
love this piece of work- it really makes me want one of those machines too since I love the Sashiko look but can't hand stitch very well. Beautiful selection of fabrics too.
I love it. I saw this demo'ed at my local shop a year or so ago but there was no negotiating down the 400-500 dollar price. I hope you got a deal! Justine
Hey, I just got a new machine too! It's nothing like this but at least the feed dogs drop (finally!) AND I got the "Small Art Quilts" DVD to go with it! Can't wait to play with them both! Gotta love Holiday time!
I went straight to Marcia's booth and bought fabrics because I was afraid she would sell out right away because her fabs are fab! I made a quilt with them and have scraps left. Now I know what to do with them! Beautiful project Jane! Also bought water colors to try after see your gorgeous art journals.
Amazing quilt with simply beautiful stitches. Did you use 30 wt thread in your Sashiko? Can you tell I am a new convert and new owner? Do you have words of wisdom for beginners? I too want to create objects de art like your quilt. Fat chance, but dreams are for everyone.
thanks Bs. I used the thread they recommend. (sorry, I'm not a numbers girl, so I don't recall what it was.) And I found, that once you figure out how to threat the machine, it's easy to use with wonderful results!
A different way to quilt and a fun idea. Have a great day.
