Student work, from my online
Sketching and Watercolor: Journal Style class.
Art by Karen Powis

One of my most popular online classes is open for registration now. Sketching and Watercolor: Journal Style is 6 weeks of learning to draw and watercolor with a quick, intuitive approach. A kind of art journaling that you can work into your everyday routine. We'll start with simple subjects, like fruit. Then progress to leaves, flowers and more. I comment on each and every image you post. I hope you'll join me!

Teri wrote about my online classes: I have to admit I was not sure how an online format and watercolor instruction would go together BUT was so pleased and glad I took the class. The one thing that made the difference was Jane LaFazio. Her calm and nurturing style came through in her videos and comments. This course was an excellent resource for someone like me who needed a way to see the world through a different lens. The bits and pieces of watercolor instruction I had accumulated over the last few months suddenly came together in Jane's class and I am motivated, more than ever, to keep pushing myself and paint as often as possible! Thank you Jane for taking the time to comment on each student's upload. It made a difference.

Another student writes: I learnt to just let go, and ignore the voice in my head that says "you can't draw"(those High School teachers who saw me as the science kid cast a long shadow!). My biggest fear was the critique of yourself and my fellow students - but that critique was nothing but constructive, true and instructive. Everyone has been lovely, and supportive, and kind - and truly engaged in what we were all doing. I discovered something which has brought me real pleasure and makes me look it everything in a slightly different and more engaged. Possibly the best £50 I have spent in years! Thank you so much Jane for being such a great, great teacher and for bringing out our best in a really honest but gentle way. Your instructions and guidance are outstanding, but the real strength is the thoroughness of your feedback and
the non-judgmental approach you take to your instruction and critique. Quite simply, thank you for opening my eyes and my mind to art journalling!"
