Along the Pacific Ocean
I've spent my whole life along the Pacific Rim. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, lived in Oregon, South Korea, Los Angeles and now San Diego, so I'm used to living near the ocean. But man, I forget how incredibly beautiful it is, and the myriad of treasures it holds.
I've never seen seaweed dry to such a vibrant acid green color.
This week, I spent a few hours at this beach in San Clemente, with its glorious tide pool.
My bag to gather shells and rocks and stuff.
I've never ever seen so many mussels! They almost look like monarch butterflies, in this photo.
Beautiful green sea anemones.
and OMG, starfish! I've never ever seen these in person. They were huge!
Ah, what a fabulous afternoon. I'll be drawing some of the shells and rock in my sketchbook soon.
It sounds like a tremendous adventure! The pics were awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love tidal pools. I could sit for hours and watch just one. You never know what will come out when you sit still long enough. The clarity and colors in your photos are wonderful. I live by the Atlantic Ocean. I love living in Florida, but I do like the ocean life in the Pacific better. Thanks for sharing the photos.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos love the pacific coast line. Great shoots
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this wonderful taste of your coastline. Thin photo of the pink starfish is so evocative!
ReplyDeleteJust sittin' here on the east coast salivating to join you!
Soon....
Oh my, thank you for the beautiful pictures of my favorite place. I am smiling
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such beautiful seaweed! It looks like green silk. The colors of the sea stars are amazing. All I have ever seen are tan/brown. Most of my ocean experience is in the Gulf at South FL . The Pacific is obviously a very different ocean.
ReplyDeleteTide pools are one of my favorite places and you found some fabulous ones. Out here on the east coast ours are not quite so colorful!!! Thanks for showing us...
ReplyDeleteThanks for some beautiful photos Jane. Your beach has better treasures than mine here on the north east coast of England.
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I can feel your excitement over the starfish...I would have felt the same way :D
