I love machine needle felting and it was great to get into again. I'm teaching it at the CREATE mixed media retreats in both Chicago and Seattle, so I needed to create some more pieces. A pleasure!

My new car!

I bought a brand new car. Yup, a 2014 VW Beetle convertible. I drove my 2001 (used when I bought it in 2003) PT cruiser for 11 years and over 110,000 miles. I decided that I deserved to get the car I wanted and have always loved, so I did! And it feels fabulous! Every time I drive anywhere, now, I'm grinning. Congratulations to me!

3 day workshop

I just finished teaching a 3 day workshop in San Diego, through the Athenaeum. It was lovely! Full of local women and some who traveled from as far as Las Vegas and the San Francisco Bay Area to attend the class. Lots of my online students were there, women I'd never met in person. Just a great group!

My next workshops, in San Diego are Saturday, August 9, 2014 1:00–4:30 p.m. at The San Diego Museum of Art and in Descanso on November 15. And of course, a zillion other workshops all over. this summer into fall.

Channeling Liz Steel (and a bit about Sketchbook Skool)

Lately, I've become more aware of the talented Liz Steel's work. She's on the fackulty for Sketchbook Skool for the 'Seeing' semester. She draws teacups nearly every day, as far as I can tell. I'd thought I'd try channeling her style and subject with a few teacups I got from my 96 year old mother in law. Here's the first.

I'm also using a fountain pen, for the first time. And, well, I thought the ink was waterproof. Guess not!

Of course you know, that I'm also on the fakulty of Sketchbook Skool, for the "Beginnings" semester. Did you know they have t-shirts and stuff available now? And one of the shirts has a drawing of the fakulty (drawn by Jean-Christophe Defline) and my face is on the shirt. Ha! I ordered 4 shirt in different colors! and a coffee mug.
