Flowers in the Window ~ a small art quilt

I love being able to leverage or extend my drawings in my sketchbook into my other work. Here is a small art quilt, created from a drawing I did of tiny flower vases in my home. I love the journal page and it was fun, and labor intensive (!) to free motion machine stitch the images.

And then I did some hand embroidery to bring out the colors in the flowers.

Papier Mache teacups

I love Ann Wood's art and sensibility. And I've finally made papier mache teacups, using her adorable tea cup pattern.

I used cereal box cardboard. (Ah, so many uses for those cereal and cracker boxes! like making a journal...details here.) And used book pages for the papier mache. Then painted them with diluted acrylic paint. Very fun project and I know I'll make more!

Abstract Collage ~ some gorgeous student work from a recent workshop

I recently taught a one day workshop "Abstract Collage" at Art on 30th, in San Diego. I love mono-printing using the gelli plate, and in this class, the students use the prints they created in class, to create two pieces of abstract art by the end of the day.
