Along the Pacific Ocean

Tide pool in San Clemente
I've spent my whole life along the Pacific Rim. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, lived in Oregon, South Korea, Los Angeles and now San Diego, so I'm used to living near the ocean. But man, I forget how incredibly beautiful it is, and the myriad of treasures it holds.

I've never seen seaweed dry to such a vibrant acid green color.

This week, I spent a few hours at this beach in San Clemente, with its glorious tide pool.

I've never ever seen so many mussels! They almost look like monarch butterflies, in this photo.

Ah, what a fabulous afternoon. I'll be drawing some of the shells and rock in my sketchbook soon.

Mixed media art retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe Retreat Project

Santa Fe Retreat Project
I'm teaching an art retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico with my Tesoro de Corazon friends: Laurie Mika, Lynn Leahy and Helen Shafer Garcia. You take a one day workshop from each of us, and at the end of the four days, you have a finished project that will look something like this, but it will be your colors and designs and totally original.

(We taught  workshops together twice in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and we wanted to do one in the USA)
Santa Fe Retreat Project
Dates are April 21-28, 2013. The cost for the workshops, hotel, breakfasts, and more is $1650 based on double occupancy ($600 single supplement) All the details of the trip are here.
htI hope you'll join us!

Husb and I went to the beach a few days ago to LaJolla Shores. We live inland, about 20 miles, so it's a short trip. Can you tell it was a gorgeous day in the 70s! And it was low tide.

around the house ~ the den

our den ~ my photos from CUBA
all photos by Jane LaFazio
My original photos now hang in our home.
Remember how I went to Cuba in January 2012 and then self published a book of my photos from the trip, that you can buy here
our den ~ my photos from CUBA
I loved many of the photos I took on that trip, and am thrilled to have them part of our decor.(They're printed and mounted on stretched canvas, done by this company.)
our den
This is our den. Yes, I'm sitting at that computer right now.
(We recently got new laminate floors throughout the house, so we've been doing some redecorating.)
our den
That's Buddy on the sofa. (And the cat painting is by my late friend, Shirley Max.) Buddha is from a trip to Thailand.

I love my new art! I'll show you photos of the rest of our home soon.
