I've been taking Alyson Stanfield's Organize Your Art Biz  and I've really learned a lot! And been motivated to make some good and practical changes to my systems. I'm only on module 7, with 5 more to go. I'll keep you posted! Honestly, I really feel this wasn't just a cleaning but a very liveable and sustainable process.

Flower Vases ~ from my sketchbook ~ by Jane LaFazio
I did this page over a week or so, I'd find a small flower vase, and then draw and paint it, then put my sketchbook away till another flower and vase came along. I left out the ink, on this page, playing with a quicker, more casual style, by leaving the pencil marks in place. I did each of these images pretty quickly.

from my sketchbook ~ a visit to Stone Farms

We had a sketchcrawl at Stone Farms in Escondido recently. It is a wonderful little farm, where they grow the produce for their restaurants (and they serve Stone Brewery Beer!)

We look cold in the photo, but most of the morning was sunny and nice!

There was a whole section of passion flowers and their fruits. I've always been fascinated by passion flowers, who wouldn't be? So I set myself up and drew the stages of the plant.

Since I'm into making smoothies and juices, I wanted to draw the kale and swiss chard that goes into my healthy drinks.

San Diego ~ 6 week class: Sketching, Watercolor and Collage in a Mixed Media Journal

Mixed Media Journal pages by Jane LaFazio

San Diego, Athenaeum on Park Blvd.
January 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, (no class Feb 18,) 25, March 4
Tuesdays, 9-12noon (6 weeks)
Fee: $200 non member/$180 members
plus $15 materials fee payable in first class

There’s no substitute for learning to draw from real life objects, and that’s how we’ll start out. Jane will teach you her quick and intuitive method to drawing and watercolor. Then each week, a new assignment /suggestion of what to draw, and a new mixed media technique to enhance your illustrated journal entries. Working in a 9x12” (suggested size) journal, you’ll be drawing from real objects every week, designing the page as you draw. You’ll learn to create cool and sometimes meaningful collaged backgrounds to enhance your drawings. You’ll be on your way to loving art journaling!
Everyone has their own drawing style, just like handwriting, and Jane will help you to see and then record what you see on paper. This class welcomes beginners, and all levels including new stuff for returning students.  (Really, even if you haven't drawn since 3rd grade, Jane can teach you!)
