ReplyDeleteYou can certainly include something in your statement about the strong influence of the natural world on your work. You capture the whimsy of flowers and small creatures so wonderfully.

ReplyDeleteStitch Ritual is a modern version of a crazy quilt. In an artist's statement I think it should be about your ritual using hand sewing and tied all these wonderful little snippets from your work together into one cohesive piece. The fact you used a muted palette goes a long way towards unifying this piece. Nice job!

ReplyDeleteMethinks that cats were wanting a bit of ME time!! I have an issue with dog hair in my house- i find it stitched into my bead pieces!!
ReplyDeleteI would know that this was your work from a mile away- it has your elegant intuitive style and charm. the brown eyed susan- daisy shapes really unify it as do the colors that you love to use. and the black thread painting! I love all of the texture that you added in when you put it together and I totally agree with the comment about about this being a modern day crazy quilt of sorts. this is really a beautiful piece and I would love to see it in person some day , maybe!!!! ( Does some of that rust look familiar???0 <3! got to get off the compute and get to stitching - you inspire me as always!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe whole is greater the sum of its parts. How true, when viewed each of your smaller 'parts' is an individual masterpiece but together they come to life and become a uniform 'whole'.

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of embroidery thread do you use. When I use the floss, on my handwork, from Walmart, Michaels, etc, my work looks old, frayed and tattered, and not in a good way. Thank you for any help you can give me.
