My wonderful students at Madeline Island School of the Arts July 2016
I recently returned from teaching a 5 day workshop at Madeline Island School of the Arts, on the shores of Lake Superior, Wisconsin. Here's a short VIDEO of the fabulous work the student created that week.
And here are my lovely students:
Here's another post on Madeline Island in case you missed it. I'll be teaching at Madeline Island School of the Arts again next year! July 10-14, 2017. Click here for information on my Nature Journal workshop 2017.
The most glorious time of year in Charleston: Spring… with gardens bursting with color! The oldest city in South Carolina, Charleston has a rich heritage as well as vibrant arts and cultural scene. Long and winding cobblestone streets, elegant well preserved mansions; century old churches; art galleries and charming boutiques. A culinary mecca for Southern food done right too and just minutes away from the cosmopolitan charms of downtown Charleston are well preserved plantations and more beautiful gardens where you’ll loose yourself in time among the moss-covered oaks and blooming azaleas. The pages of your journals awash with color, architecture and beautiful gardens a treasure to cherish for years to come!
Charleston, South Carolina has been voted the No. 1 City in the World and No. 1 City in the U.S. and Canada in the Travel + Leisure 2016 World's Best Awards!

Obviously, I could go back in and finish some of the pages, adding more journaling or photos...and maybe I'll get around to that. But for now, this remains a fine record of my time at Bishops Ranch, in Northern California.
Last month, I took my husband to Taos, New Mexico. He had never been, and I wanted to show him the magical place. We stayed at Mabel Dodgle Luhan Inn, where I hold my annual LavenderSage Art Retreat. And we visit Abiquiu and the home of Georgia O'Keeffe. We had a great trip! Here's a link to the VIDEO. I created the book, below, from my sketchbook drawings and the brochure from the fabulous exhibition of Mabel Dodge Luhan at the Harwood Art Museum in Taos. I'll show you the inside of my sketchbook soon.
I finished this a while ago, and hadn't shown it to you. I just used a variety of felt colors and spontaneously created these succulents with embroider thread and a bit of yarn. The hot glued them to a wreath from the craft store.
