me @ borrego

Here I am at the Borrego Springs art show, pedaling my wares. This is my 7th time at the Circle of Art. It's a fun, casual outdoor show in a tiny desert town about 1.5 hours from San Diego. It was about 85 degrees and gorgeous all weekend.

borrego karaoke

Friends Jill and Helen and me on the right, at my DEBUT singing karaoke. It's quite story, but I'm NOT a singer and this was a very brave thing for me to do (not to mention the audience, staying in the room!) We sang the Beatles "Here Comes the Sun" and Carole King's "It's too late." You just had to be there...

A beautiful weekend in the desert.........

shoes and socks

Here are my new vegan shoes. They're from zappos.com and are called GT Jane by Simple shoes. Made with no animal products and way comfy. And, my new socks, recommended by Pam, one of my readers, from Solmate sox.
Gee, I sound like a spokesmodel, don't I? :-)

tree of life coral heart

Finished this for the joggles class I'm teaching. It's 15x15" and called "Tree of Life: Coral Heart."

buddy in the organza

Buddy loves to cuddle in my boxes of fabric....

On March 22 & 23 (Easter weekend) I’ll have a booth of my artwork for sale at the 19th Annual Circle of Art art show. It’s an outdoor show, with about 65 artists set up in the center of Borrego Springs, in Christmas Circle. It’s the perfect time to plan a visit to the desert! I hear the wild flowers are exceptional, and of course, the ARTwork will be too! Here’s a map.
Saturday, March 22: 9-5 and Sunday March 23: 9-3:30
Hope to see you there!

Geek Squad

I'm having email problems again! The Geek Squad is coming tomorrow. Wish me luck! Meantime, contact me through here, or gawd forbid, use that odd instrument called a telephone.

Lee Woodruff

Husb (that's him) and I heard Lee Woodruff speak last night at Warwick's book store. She's the wife of Bob Woodruff, the news reporter that suffered a brain injury in Iraq. They have written a book "In an Instant: A Family's journey of love and healing." Now in paperback, with a very moving afterward by Bob, Lee, and each of their 4 kids.
Lee is an incredible woman and I am humbled by her intelligence, humor and communication skills. If you ever get a chance to hear her speak, do. She spoke articulately, with total integrity about their own experience, and about the soldiers returning from Iraq (an estimated 10%) with tramatic brain injury. She and Bob have a non-profit, Bob Woodruff Family Fund, to raise public awareness and help brain injury service members. I'm going to make a donation right now.

Danny's new book

You all know Danny Gregory don't you? you must! Here's the cover of his soon-to-be-released book. It's coming out in October, and you can pre-order it now. Oh, and did I mention, my drawings are included in this book? Danny's going to interview me for an upcoming podcast. I can't imagine what I'll have to say about sketching and painting to Danny. It will be like talking to Britney Spears about publicity, or David Hockney about dachshunds, or Twyla Tharp about dance.

Life is good.

You know, some days are nearly perfect. Today, in Mundo Lindo, the kids decorated kites, and then flew them in the park right outside our Mundo Lindo studio. The kids were joyous, and laughing, and running and free. Ah, a beautiful thing. You can see more photos on my Mundo Lindo blog.

Mundo Lindo.

Yup, Mundo Lindo means beautiful world in spanish. So true.

crazy socks

I love my new crazy socks. I bought them from Heidi. She knits them from left over yarn, so each sock is different, but the toes match so you can tell which pair goes together. I have two pair so far, and yearning for a third!.

Old Coach Trail

Last Tuesday, Pamela and I discovered this (new to us) trail in Poway. Today, husb and I went there. The dark oak trees in the pic, were burned in the Witch Creek Fires in October 2007, and you can see the wonderful green growth returning.

detail work in progress. Paper on cloth

Here's a detail shot of a project I'm working on.
