I wouldn't say this is my best work, but the process was fun and a learning experience. I was inspired by Alma Stoller's fun tutorial using magazine pages and then Lyric Kinard's post on Citrasolv, which I'd been meaning to try--so I combined the two! First I used citrasolv on a bunch of National Geographic pages (yes, quite messy and they all sort of look like acid rain) and then I free-motioned one on top of a bunch of old magazine pages...then I doodled on it, and added one of my hand carved stamps. So, like I said, this isn't such a winner, but I have more stitched/citrasolve concoctions ready to play on!
I'm off to Utah to teach a retreat, returning briefly next week. See you then! Meanwhile, I'll post on Facebook.
It's nice to see the process, Jane. Even though each piece of art we make may not be a masterpiece, we learn so much by staying open. thanks
ReplyDeleteWell, i like it very much :)
ReplyDeletevery cool! i love the stamp you made love to experiment with new techniques...see you next month.
ReplyDeleteI encourage you in messiness! I like the page a lot.
ReplyDeleteJane, I REALLY like it!! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI like it as well. I am interested in what sort of inks you used with your stamp. Sometimes these pages are not very receptive to other media. I really like the contrast of the organic stitching and bird with the geometric stamps. The stitching adds a nice textural element that plays up the carving marks on the stamps.
ReplyDeleteI do like the background textures and ocher colors with the black bird.
ReplyDeleteI read about the citra solve method but wasn't sure I wanted to sue the chemical or not.
I really really like it! The contrast and texture are great.
ReplyDeleteMessy is fun!
Jane, I like it a lot. You have a knack with working with geometric shapes behind your main image.
