I'm working on something new. Collages of my gelli plate monorprints. Here are some glimpses of the progress. I'll put them in my JaneVille Etsy shop when I finish them.








And February is over. My sweet husband had serious back surgery, so I'm happy it's a new month!

I chose CLEAR as my one word for 2014 (and I blogged about it here). The other word I was considering was 'community.' So, I've started hosting little luncheons at my home, inviting a just few friends at a time. I serve homemade soup, salad and some yummy bread, to make it simple and doable. So far, it's been delightful! My hope is to do this once a month. Don't fret if you haven't been invited yet, really, you're on the list! :-)

New Online Class ~ Watercolor Sketchbook: Designs from Life

ONE word for 2014

I asked my blog readers and facebook friends to tell me their ONE WORD for 2014 and here they are. Inspiring, huh? (You can click on the image to see it larger.)

My ONE WORD is CLEAR. 
Clear, as in clear roads ahead. Clear, as in clear spaces surrounding me. Clear, as in clear skies, clear sailing ahead. Clear, as in a clear mind. 

As you may know, I've been clearing out and organizing my studio, office and house. It's felt sooo good to see the clear surface of my desk and work table. To have a clear, uncluttered space to work in. To have my mind clear of the clutter too. 
CLEAR is my one word for 2014. What's yours? Is it on the list above?

from my sketchbook ~ recipe (tiny tutorial)

I'd started creating a page for a recipe about a year ago, and hadn't finished it.

I decided to cut out the pieces and collage them into a page, and that a brown paper shopping bag would be the perfect background.

The nice thing about this approach, is that you can play with the arrangement on your page, before you glue the pieces down.

I finished off the page with captions with a white pen.

Danny Gregory comes to visit

So, you know I'm one of the faculty member's of Danny Gregory's brand new Sketchbook Skool (register now, class starts April 4) and I'm so thrilled to be a part of this exciting venture. Each week, for 6 weeks, there will be a different instructor, and my lesson will be released April 25. The lessons will consist of videos, images and text and each teacher is creating their own lesson, based on the theme "beginnings." 

Danny offered to come down from LA and film one of my video portions, the demo. I was THRILLED, appreciative and frankly a little nervous.

We went over to the nearby winery to film me, sketching and watercolor on location.

It was totally fun and a bit nerve wracking, but I'm thrilled with the video Danny made, and I know the students Sketcbook Skool will like it too.
