Love your pumpkins, Jane. It gives me hope for my next autumn in March 2012. At the moment I am watching my pumpkin seedlings from the compost, grow in the vegetable garden - along with the sprouting tomato seedlings and the potatoes and the parsley. Spring is wonderful but just wish we had a bit more rain. Canberra Australia can be very dry.
Why are pumpkins so appealing? I did not even grow up with them, but there is something very comfortable and warming about them. A promise of plenty. They will carry us over until spring, and keep us well. That, and their somewhat primitive, coarse beauty, I think, make them so gorgeous to us. MF
Great variety and color of pumpkins. Great time of year for sketchers and painters--you've gathered a wonderful selection of non-calorie, very satisfying eye candy!
Oh my gosh, what a great subject! I'll have to try painting pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be able to flip back in the old books and see a central theme but see the style has changed (a little.) Love them all.
