ART QUILTS: The House Quilt Project and Quilting Arts Magazine

I created this 14x14 inch quilt to donate to  The House Quilt Project
I had my watercolors printed on fabric by Spoonflower.

It started like this...

Then I added the flowers and hand stitching.  I hope the family that receives it likes it.

I have an article in this issue of Quilting Arts Magazine Dec/Jan 2019
My article is about travel and how it influences my artwork. These small quilts are in the magazine and inspired by my trip to Cuba earlier this year.

Recycled Circles ONLINE workshop

RECYCLED CIRCLES online workshop
Mixed Media on paper

Delight in the discovery that what often feels “wonky” along the way, comes together beautifully in the end! Using your favorite fabric, papers and tactile embellishments, explore the playful and forgiving flow of the circle through contracting colors, textures and patterns. Why circles? The circle frees you from deciding on the “right” direction. You can begin at any point along the circle; explore in either direction, and you’ll never feel lost. What can you expect to explore in this workshop?
  • An easy, no-fail process for creating a mixed-media background
  • Multiple ways of adding stitching to your project—by machine, by hand and even hand-drawn
  • A “secret” to achieving great contrast in your composition
  • Giving new life to bits and pieces you’ve had stashed in piles around your studio
By working along with Jane’s process—each step has its own adventure in color, contrast and texture—you’ll feel freed up to explore and play in even more directions! Yet what’s cut up and unique on its own is later reassembled, creating a perfectly-imperfect circle.

I've taught this class in person for many years, and this is the first time it's been offered online.

moon bowls

I posted this on social media a month or so ago.
I'd just returned from a weekend workshop with Roxanne Evans Stout, and made the cool book on the left. When I got home, and set the book on my coffee table, low and behold, I noticed the bowl of fruit that I'd set out weeks before.

Subliminable color schemes and themes!

Then, I signed up for Tonia Jenny's online workshop, last week, and made these Moon Bowls and look at the colors!
