leaf print

I just learned this very easy technique and I love it. It's from L.K. Ludwig's book "Mixed Media Nature Journals." You'll be seeing more of this from me, combined with drawing. You just use water soluble crayons, dipped in water, and color the real leaf. Then you lay it face down on paper (or cloth) and rub. It gives you a gorgeous print! AND you can do it on the road, in your journal. Way cool.

  1. This is gorgeous! And a great combination of my two favorite things - nature printing and neocolors. Can't wait to try it!

  2. That's a lovely - and ideal for visual journalling. I'm very attached to my watersolubles and will definitely try this :)

  3. Great effect. Funny, a friend told me about this technique recently too, I have yet to try it though.
I have added you as a starpost on my blog.

  4. That is such a great idea! Thanks for posting it. It is raining here today (I'm on a birding/kayaking trip in South Carolina), so if I have my crayons in my "work bag" I may just try out this technique. Thanks for sharing it.

  5. Gotta try it, once I find those crayons!

  6. Yep! Way cool indeed! I have tried it with ink on linnen fabric but that was rather difficult. This looks much easier. Must try it out. It is always so inspiring to read your blog. Get new ideas all the time but alas not enough time to try them out at once. Any ideas on how to fix the "not enough time" issue? Sigh!

Lots of love to´you my friend
