Jane and Don visit New York City! (I went there to teach a weekend workshop, and take my husband and spent a few extra days seeing the city.)

We had a fine time in NYC!
FACTOID: There are so many restaurants within the five boroughs of New York City that you could eat at a different one every day and still not have tried them all 12 years later. That doesn't stop most New Yorkers from trying the more than 4,200 restaurants in the city.
We stayed on the west side, between Central Park and Riverside Park, so we had a wonderful location. We ate twice at Bodrum, in the neighborhood and also enjoyed French Roast. We ate at EATALY, which I highly recommend.
New York City is a whole different experience that San Diego.
We don't have Central Park (778 acres in the middle of the city).

FACTOID: There are about 9 million people living in New York City. (There are 3 million in San Diego)
And the architecture and culture are much different. For example:
We don't have fire escapes in San Diego.

As far as I know, we don't have many dog walkers in San Diego.

I was there and I enjoyed seeing The High Line.
ReplyDeleteThe old trainroute through the Meatdistrict is now a kind of garden along the rails. On some places the rails are still to see.
Have fun there.

The Lower Eastside Tenement Museum is a must see. A tour through an apartment occupied by one of New York's immigrant families of the past.
ReplyDeleteNICE Post Jane...
ReplyDeleteLoved this post...You bring such joy to everywhere you go and everyone you see...;)
ReplyDeleteYea, Jane! I've been there several times! It sounds like you stayed near where I did once! I LOVE the city! And you're right about the restaurants! Loved Little Italy, Soho, climbing the Statue of Liberty, seeing plays, Carnegie Deli, the art museums, the Cloisters, OMGS! There's just too much to love! AND...didn't Danny just move out west??? Or is moving??? So he can bring a little NYC with him! I haven't been back since 9-11, and I do remember being up at the observation deck there. Also up in the Rainbow Room! It's a lot to remember! ;) Hope you had the best time & thanks for sharing all your pics! Blessings!
